▲ S.F. STREET STYLE

Visual creative inspiration from the streets of San Francisco:
This is Clarion Alley; a vibrant, colorful, artistic landscape of social expressionism located in The Mission neighborhood of San Francisco.

The street is notable for community and arts activity, including the Clarion Alley Mural Project, the American Indian Center and Promotoras Latinas Comunitarias de Salud. The Clarion Alley Mural Project formed in 1982, inspired by Balmy Alley and other murals and muralists of San Francisco's Mission District. The group is an artists' collective formed by a volunteer collective of six North Mission residents: Aaron Noble, Michael O'Connor, Sebastiana Pastor, Rigo 92, Mary Gail Snyder, and Aracely Soriano. The project creates and facilitates other artists creating murals on Clarion Alley, between Valencia and Mission Streets and surrounding areas. While the Balmy Alley mural project focused on the theme of Central American struggle, the stated goals of CAMP were social inclusiveness and aesthetic variety.

This is the latest mural being developed in Clarion Alley, taken just yesterday. (Each of the artists who are members of CAMP are allowed designated spaces along the walls of the alley; artists will sometimes leave their work up for months at a time, or, refresh new work within weeks of development.)
